1963- Please Please Me by The Beatles

  • Please Please Me was the first album by The Beatles.
  • The Beatles introduced a new style of Rock and Roll.
  • They were also the first 'band' to be successful, as opposed to a solo artist.

  1. Most of the songs on that LP were first released in the US in '64, "Introducing... The Beatles". The first Beatles single reaching No. 1 in the US (I Want To Hold Your Hand) came in Feb. '64, not in '63 as in the UK.

It was the Kennedy assasination in Nov. of '63 that was the event behind the event. With such shock and sorrow, after rocking the whole world at that time, causing the need for escape and that explains the mania in the US and elsewhere that was so associated with The Beatles.

What was probably the most significant event of The Beatles' career was that first marijuana cigarette with Bob Dylan. It is widely commented on as to have happened on Aug. 24, 1964 in a hotel room in New York City.
